“Building a Coalition for the Children of Texas,” a conference on social and emotional learning hosted by American Leadership Forum Houston (Gulf Coast Chapter) Education Class I, will be conducted from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2008, in the Janice and Robert McNair Hall—Shell Auditorium of Rice University’s Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management, 6100 Main Street. The conference’s mission will be to build a coalition to pass legislation that brings social and emotional learning on par with academics in every Texas classroom and recognizes the critical impact that social and emotional learning has on academic achievement and workforce readiness. Space is limited to 250 participants from across Texas, including leaders from education, business, community, and government. The $50 registration fee will cover expenses for a continental breakfast, box lunch, materials, and parking.
